Having finally got round to making my own houmous but hating having to run it through the food processor (a lot of washing up for only a little final product) I am tempted to think about getting a hand-held blender/chopper/whizzer thingummy! Anyone got any particular recommendations?
Also cannot find tahini in any of our larger supermarkets in the area. Tesco customer service said it isn't listed on their database any longer. Any ideas, please?

Just bought myself a Benefit make I think it is from Lidl last week for £9.99, got all the attatchments that come with the much more expensive braun one to chop and whisk.
Have used the cookworks one which argos have for £3.96 which worked well but is just a basic hand blender, no chopper, whisk etc http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?pp=20&s=Price%3A+Low+-+High&storeId=10001&catalogId=1500000701&langId=-1&q=BLENDER+HAND+&x=33&y=9One day I might be more organised...........

Hi paddy's mum,
I have a braun one and I use it almost every day....it's the one thing I don't think I could do without in the kitchen. This is the one I have and at the moment it's reduced to £19.99 including delivery from Amazon.
There's an older thread with lots of recommendations that should help:
Stick blender
I'll merge your thread with that one later as it helps to keep all the recommendations together.

I've got the Braun multiquick and it's brill! Got mine from Tesco on offer.
Tahini is available in most supermarkets, I've seen it in Asda, Tesco and JS. You can also get it in health food shops - Holland and Barratt nearly always have it in as does my local independant HFS.0 -
Thank you all for such quick and positive replies.
Pink-winged - I have taken your recommendation and just ordered the Braun one from Amazon. I'm sure I shan't be disappointed. Take a personal gold star for being so prompt and so money saving!0 -
Hi All
I am thinking about getting a hand blender. I have a food processor, but I often avoid using it because it is so big and I am not a fan of lots of washing up!
I am looking at the MR4050 handblender which will chop, whisk and blend - it is in Argos on offer for £24.43 at the moment. It looks a lot easier to clean than my food processor too. Has anyone got this one? Would you recommend it? Any other recommendations?
I will mostly use it for blending, and chopping onions etc when I am feeling lazy
I have looked for threads recommending handblenders but didn't find any.
Thanks0 -
i had a expensive one before and i never used the attachments. i now have a tesco value one which i use which i think was £3.79 only bought it last week. its fine . i use it for blending soup and i think ofr the money its a good buy .Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!0
