Party wall awards

Hi,
We are hoping someone will be able to help. We are looking to knock down a load bearing wall separating a kitchen and living room. We wanted to avoid party wall agreements as we are part of a row of terraces all converted into flats and as such there are numerous freeholder's and leaseholder's involved. We spoke to a party wall surveyor who has confirmed the following will not need a party wall award but our freeholder is not entirely convinced.
There is a beam in situ, directly below the wall we wish to remove, which pierces through the party wall. That has been in place for years. We have asked our structural engineer to design a column and beam structure whereby the beam rests on columns bolted into the beam below. We will not pierce nor touch party walls in any way.
I hope I have explained myself well enough.
Can any one advise on whether party wall awards are needed or not?
Many thanks!
