I wasn't sure where to post this so plumped for this board!
Last week I bought some goods from Ama*on and afterwards left a so-so review, three stars with a comment about the items not working as expected but still OK for what I wanted them for.
This morning I got an email from the seller:
I've refused to regrade the review as that would be dishonest, however I have deleted it as I really don't want to have a negative impact.
What would others have done?

If it means upgrading your shopping experience from a 3-star to a 5-star one, I’d like to offer you a 100% cash back immediately on the purchase which would be equivalent to a full refund while letting you keep what you already bought. In comparison, going through the refund process with Amazon would require you to send back the original item and could take weeks to process.
A negative product review hurts me tremendously as a small seller on Amazon just starting out. So if you’d be willing to re-rate your previously posted product review to a higher rating,I’ll be happy to issue the cash-back or ship out your free replacement item immediately to the address on file.

I've seen a thread like this here "recently" ... might have been in here or PV&W.
Personally I'd have simply ignored the email and left the review as it was.0 -
And if you re-rate the item the next buyer is unaware of the shortcomings of the product and the whole process starts again. Personally stick with the truth and ignore the seller0

I think that was a poor decision, if your review was honest then your reasons for leaving the reveiw in the first place were still valid and you should have left it in place. What incentive is there on the seller to improve their performance if the only reviews left are glowing ones?0 -
I had something similar with an ebay vendor selling "silver" jewelry marked 925, but I wasn't convinced. I said so in a review, and got a message "just starting out"/"didn't know"/"supplier told me I am new to selling please consider..."
I looked - they had 25000 sales over 3 years with people questioning their "925" silver, the message was a a simple lie. Hardly a new seller and hardly news that the goods weren't 925. I decided to take the hit and leave the review.0 -

Yes, you're correct!
I've forwarded the email to Ama*on for them to investigate, their reply to me suggests that they are taking it seriously.0 -
Why do you keep on putting an asterisk in Amazon's name?0
