That's good news. Do you know why, because search fees aren't usually refunded?

Did you buy Home Buyer Protection Insurance, or something similar?

If you did, it would be interesting to know how much you paid for the insurance, and how much you got back.

I purchased through premier property lawyers. When I pulled out of the first house they said the search fee's where returnable but only upon completion of the next property. If there was insurance I was unaware of it. But it was a full refund of the search fees

OK - it looks like that firm offer a special deal on search fees:
Search Guarantee – in the unlikely event that a purchase does not proceed to exchange of contracts, the cost of the next set of searches will be supplied FREE of charge.*

It's good to know that they stick to their 'guarantee', and don't try to wriggle out of it - because their customer reviews are very mixed:

So the refund has come from the solicitors you enagaged, because that's one of the terms of the contract you signed up to, not from the selling Estate Agents as you originally stated? That's an entirely different situation.

    Hi
    Just an update.

My original search fee's where refunded to me this morning.

As I haven't moved house in over 10 years and things do change when it comes to moving I assume the information I am give as correct.

    And there where

So they refunded you instead of giving you the next set free on a different house? That's different to what is posted on their site mentioned above.

The reason people are confused is because your 1st post said:
I was told that when I find another property and complete the sale I should contact the original estate agents for the sale we pulled out of to claim back our search fees.
    That is very different.

The fees were never going to be refunded by the 'original estate agents'.

They were refunded by the solicitors, not because of any issue with the stairs to the attic, but because you went on to use the same solicitors for a 2nd purchase. It was a sweetener to get you to use the solicitors again.
