Vauxhall Combo Van - Alternator Issue?

Morning All, I have yet another issue with the van. Husband driving up to the village, battery light (only the battery light, nothing else), came on, car died and when Gary tried to kick it back in again it was just click, click, clicking.
Could it be an alternator or something more serious.
Thank you all. Carol

Well if you lift the bonnet and look?0

If it was aux belt it's likely the van would lose power assistance for the steering as well, but if just the battery light has come on and the vehicle has then discharged its battery to a point it won't start with no other effects, I'd anticipate the alternator to be the fault.0

Thank you for the good advice.
Ganga, Thank you for your advice too! Really helpful, not.

If it's a ~2001 on combo, it's got electric power steering, which gets disabled as soon as a charging fault is detected, so it doesn't really help you diagnose what the fault is.0 -

Never mind then. You're probably right, I have never willingly worked on a Vauxhall of any flavour so wouldn't know.0
