Ask for the money to be returned or use your Vanquis card to spend it.
One thing to be aware of if you choose to use the card to spend the money is that purchases made with it may not be covered by Section 75.
Don't withdraw the money from an ATM because it will be treated as a cash advance and you'll be hit with a 3% or £3 fee.0 -
you should call the credit card company and ask your questions!0

Simplest answer is to leave it on the account and spend it down in the normal way. Although it is against the T+Cs to put an account into credit, in practice they are unlikely to block an account for simply paying twice. If that is going to cause you cash flow problems, ring and ask them if they would refund you and confirm there will be no fee. Effectively you do now have more than the credit limit of £500 available to spend. But it's not "extra" credit because they owe you the extra. They also may not allow a single transaction which is greater than your credit limit.
Finally be aware that purchases made whilst in credit and that leave you in credit are probably NOT covered by S75.alwaysready wrote: »you should call the credit card company and ask your questions!
Perhaps the OP has. This is a CC forum where people are free to ask questions about their CCs. If we followed your logic, we might as well shut it down. The reasons for asking here rather than a CC directly include:
1) Call centres sometimes give out wrong or incomplete answers. Eg they might say "get it from a machine" without thinking about the fee.
2) Posters might not have access to a telephone or it will be expensive for them to make a call.
3) It might be out of hours.
4) They might have language/accessibility issues.
5) On here they might receive additional information which they hadn't thought to directly ask for - eg my S75 point above.
6) They might want confirmation or clarification of what they have been told.0
