Now, Apologies, this thread is not about a credit card as such, but there is not really a good other topic area to put this!
I got a student card last year. Now you can get these at ANY age. Just look at courses you would like to enrol in. The fees (if any) are very reasonable and you recieve a regognised qualification.
I went on a IT course (which at the time was free). I think now they cost about £25.00. I reccieved a student card, valid for 1 year.
This enabled me to recieve a 'student discount'. I have saved at least £200.00 this year due to it and heres some of the breakdown typically;
Topshop- (10%) bought a coat for £70.00 got £7.00 off sometimes 15% off
HMV (Online and instore) 10% spent at least £150.00 therefore £15.00 off
Cinema Student rates are at least £1.00 cheaper
Resturants usually at least 10% off
JD/JJB Sports- a £40 pair of trainers- £4.00 off
Even health clubs offer student rates which are a hell of a lot off i.e. Esporta full rate £84.00 p/m- student rate £49.00 p/m thats a saving of £35.00 a month!!
you can easilly see the saving mount up, and I urge anyone to do this as you save so much money!
Just make sure you recieve a valid student card from the place in which you carry out the course
Let me know what your experiences are!
And if anyone wants to nominate me for this thread, for the moneysavers award then please do!!!!!!
Thanks

Hey, thanks, thats actually quite a good idea! I am just coming off the back of the student life for 8 years, and it sucks!! The banks in particular are keen to claw back all the money they 'lost' from having to offer student rates, ODs etc..We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.
