DVD Video combi unit ?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a dvd/video combi unit for a mate who has a real space shortage.

So far the only one that looks like it might be a goer is the Samsung DVDV6700S. He needs the vcr to watch his collection of old horror vid that haven't made it to dvd yet, but the dvd side has to play divx/xvid files and can be region hacked.

I can see that the Samsung is hackable and will play ntsc tapes, but anyone know if it's any good with divx/xvid files ?

Or any suggestions for a better unit ?

Already post on AV forums and had no replys !! (which surprised me, unless they think combi units are beneath them ! ). So I thought I'd try the good people here...
