    Hi everyone,

We are just starting to look in to building, can I ask how you chose your sites and what pitfalls there could be?

    Thanks!
  • Check for availability of water/electric to site. The more remote = more expensive. Electricity connection can be VERY expensive.
  • Hi AMG, I am exactly the same, looking into beginning to build, I have 2 options of purchasing a house with a builders finish, costing £230k but everything to do, joinery fit out, kitchen, floors, fire place, stoves, 2600 sq ft house.

I don’t know if I am better purchasing a site for approx £45k and then trying to build and if this will actually save me much, like if it costed £100sq/ft to build and finish a house I wouldn’t, I am planning to finish my house to a mid range finish, £12k kitchen, carpets in bedrooms etc.
  • Hi, I’m looking at a new house, it a traditional farm Yard still, re Architech what sort of rates are You being quoted/ charged? I just looking planing and working drawings and know exactly what we want. Cheers
