ShellyWidd wrote: »Can anyone help. Before Christmas I dropped a friend off at her Christmas party at the double tree hotel at Newcastle airport. Approx 1 week later I received a parking fine from IPC. this was obviously very confusing as at no point was I ever parked. I did stop for approximately 30 seconds to let her out if the car but I would not think this was parking.
I appealed the charge and stupidly admitted that I was the driver in this appeal. Not surprisingly from what I have read the appeal was rejected on the grounds that I was unloading in a restricted area. I did not see any of the alleged signage saying that this was the case. When I asked them to send me a picture of the sign they sent one which was facing in the opposite direction.
I ignored the second letter from them and have no e received a letter from DRP threatening me with court action if I don't pay up.
Can anyone please advise as to whether this is something I should pay or not.
Thanks in advance Shelly

During the summer I collected a friend from Newcastle Airport. As indicated by the signage I used the car park which gave 10 minutes free parking. Just after leaving the warning light for the boot flashed so a passenger jumped out at the junction and fixed it. By then, a little flustered, I took a wrong turning and found myself faced with two "no entry" signs so I stopped. Just as well since my rear door was open.
A couple of weeks later the keeper of the vehicle received a parking notice from the above company with a photograph showing a car similar to the one I was driving but with no registration number and a second photograph taken in a completely different location which does show the registration number.
I wrote to Newcastle Airport and asked for a copy of their byelaws. The byelaws do not have a section numbered the same as the one under which they were claiming they were making the charge.
I emailed the parking company asking why I was being charged but they haven't replied. Since then there has been a reminder, a threatening letter from DRP and a reminder which threatens they will pass the case back to their client with a recommendation for court action if the £60 charge - now inflated to £160 is not paid
I have written again to the parking company and to Newcastle Airport promising to pass the matter to my MP if they do not respond to correspondence and continue to threaten the vehicle's keeper.
Am I likely to be taken to court and has anyone had this experience and won in court. Being almost seventy I'm a little anxious about this but I don't like being threatened. What should I do?0 -
If you have already read up on this in the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum and want more advice then you need to start your own thread and not simply post on someone's (,old!) thread like this0
