All 16 tickets cancelled

Morning,
so after taking your advice and writing to F1rst to appeal my son's 16 tickets we received a letter yesterday saying a computer error caused the late issue of tickets! the great news is they went on to say all tickets have been cancelled! thank you for all the great advice.
My relief soon turned to anger when my son told me that a group of lads at uni are all being bombarded with PCNs and debt collection letters. one lads bill racked up to £4.5k with the debt collection fees and he's paid it!!!! I am so angry with this rip off company that I am going to see if I can take a complaint further on all their behalf. All the poor lads are worried sick.
I have asked my son to put my in touch with the lads to see if they can follow a similar process as I did to get them cancelled but feel we need to also take it further.
what do you think?

This may be of interest to Trading Standards. Have you contacted the Students' Union? You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

I suspect other students' cases may be more straightforward compared to the V5 problems you had. But as a minimum they should appeal using the newbies sticky template for a BPA operator if the ticket(s) are within dates for a standard appeal. If they were issued in bulk they should use an adapted version of the letter Coupon-mad drafted for you.
If multiple tickets were issued in one go, they should contact the DVLA (as per Pappa Golf's advice) to find out if for each ticket they sought the keeper details separately.
You might advise each person to open a thread of their own here. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
