Is my digital camera dead?

Just been taking some ebay pics and camera gone wonky. Colours gone really weird and shadowy, and lots of lines. Only in picture taking mode, the old pics on card view fine. However, the pics I have taken today are not visible - blue screen with 'read error'.
Is my camera dead? Does anyone repair them? Would it be better to buy a new one? It is 4 yrs old, not been used that much. Fuji FinePix F700.
Thanks.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Sounds terminal to me.
However, copy your pictures off the card and format the card in the camera again.
Try using the camera again, try a different card in it or take some pictures on the internal memory, with no card in. Card could be damaged or affected by static.
If it still does the same, then it's knackered.
It's a 3.1MP camera which interploates to 6MP, so equivalent camera probably under £100 now.
Repair will probably exceed that.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Blue screen on playback is standard Fuji thing. Try taking the card out and switching into playback - should be a blue screen with "No Card".
Most Fuji cams around that time came with a small (16mb) card - do you still have that?0 -
as with most things electronic, a camera repair is gonna cost more than the cameras value.
check out the current value of your camera on ebay etc...
probably only high value cameras are worth repairing, say SLR,s?Get some gorm.0
