Question About Insurance For The Convicted

Hi guys,
I recently got convicted of an act of dishonesty that I committed about 7 years ago, and I received community service for it this year.
Do I need to tell my car/home insurance company about this? Although they ask if you have ever been convicted, I am sure they do not carry out criminal checks before they pay out insurance. Am I right? Thanks in advance!

I'm not being funny.
But you did something dishonest and were caught - took your punishment - and now want guidance on whether or not to be dishonest.....
I can't help you I'm afraid - I'm sure someone will be able to comment on the criminal checks.

Insurance companies do not take kindly to dishonesty.
You may not get found out when you take out the policy. You may not get found out when you make a claim.
Then again you may. Say the worst happens and your house is burnt to the ground - they then find out you have lied about your conviction. They will not pay out on your property - could be hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Do yourself and family a favour - go to a broker and see if anyone will insure you0 -
I read it as OP already has insurance in place and wants to know if they should now inform the insurers of this recent conviction. Maybe I'm wrong but that's how I read it

I don't really know OP but imagine you should let them know.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
