Mastercard benefits for holiday balance?

Could anyone tell me what the benefits are exactly of paying with mastercard - apart from the 6 weeks or so credit?

We have to pay the balance on a holiday and usually pay using our mastercard but this time the company are slapping a 2.5% surcharge on for paying this way.
I am wondering if its worth the extra outlay.....

Thanks!

Is this due immediately or do you have some time?

If you have some time then apply for the capital one card that has 4% cashback.

The main benefit is that when you buy things on mastercard then theyhave joint liability under the consumer credit act.
This means that if the company went bust you'd be covered.
I'm not sure of this gives you anything additional because it's probably covered by ABTA anyway.

Sometimes credit cards give travel insurance.

The main benefit is the credit.

My advice is that if you have at least 2 weeks to pay then get the capital one card.
Obviously it will take a while to apply and get the card delivered.
If it's due immediately then perhaps you could stall them, after all there is a postal strike on so lots of things will be delayed.

Thanks lisyloo. the company is covered by ABTA and ATOL and we already have travel insurance with our current account. We have always paid by mastercard before for this sort of thing ( dont really need the credit at present) so i suppose its a case of "old habits....."

Having said that - we have never booked a holiday with an online company before!!

We dont have time to switch cards although may be tempted in the future.

Personally I generally don't pay these charges and pay by debit card.
The only exception is when there is cashback to cover it.
