    Hi Glen,
Where I live the local builders merchant has a deal that if you buy 4 or more you get 10% off the price. I would therefore advise that you ring around and try and get a good deal. Check the local papers etc or ask a builder if you know one where they get their supplies.

I would be interested to know where the cheapest place to buy Veluxes is as I will need a couple in the future. Good luck

Try Screfix Direct if 740 x 980mm is an appropriate size (you need to add in for a slate or tile flashing kit as well).

Otherwise, Travis Perkins has a better selection of sizes.

You should be looking at about £200 (before discount) for a 740 x 980mm window, although the prices rise quite dramatically for the much bigger windows and also if they need to be fully opening for fire regulations.
    I came, I saw, I did a little browsing.

Might be worth giving Jewsons a try.
  • Step 1) Open a Jewsons Account

    2) Get a quote off them for the Velux windows

    3) Ring the manager up and tell him his prices are ridiculous and that you are not going to buy anything from them because they are totally uncompetitive

    4) Meet with the manager and negotiate a price (at this request in my case)

...I ended up with mine at £135 +VAT for quite large ones...Certainly cheaper than anywhere else including Wickes

P.S Either fit them yourself or get someone who knows what they are doing ..and not the complete incompatant idiot I ended up with...He has messed up do badly I've got to do the job again myself :(

  • Mike-the-bike isn`t far wrong . Get a Velux catalogue showing the list prices and go along to ANY builders merchant eg Jewson and ask for a discount . If you do not get 15 - 20% off the Velux list then simply go to another merchant stating that you`ve been to eg Jewson who offered you 20% and ask if they will match it . They nearly always will . . . . . . . Working for a builders merchant myself I KNOW this is what several of our customers do for Velux and other items with a list price . Bottom line is , if the second merchant does not meet the discount level you expect you can always return to the first without losing face OR go onto another and try to get the full discount . 20% in the case of Velux unless you`re a really mean negotiator in which case you may get a few % extra off .
One last point though , make sure you get the same discount of the flashing kits as some sellers , I think Screwfix do this , offer a large discount on windows and charge a rate higher than even list price for the flashing kit to get some margin back ! ! !
    Examples of list prices ; WINDOWS - GGLC02 550x780mm £120.43 , GGLCO4 550x980mm £134.02 , GGLM04 780x980 £153.03 , GGLMO8 780x1400mm £187.80 , GPLMO8 780x1400MM(escape window) £292.22
    FLASHINGS FOR SLATED ROOFS - EDLCO2 £27.02 , EDLCO4 £28.78 , EDLMO4 £31.42 , EDLMO8 £34.07 , flashing kits for tiled roofs are approx 10% higher

These are the Velux recommended trade prices for which you should be aiming to get 20% discount off

As always , if you are struggling for a deal please let me know , I can maybe put you in touch with a supplier local to you.

    Cheers
