DVLA asked me to pay car tax after a SORN. What to do?
Hi everyone!
A few months ago I found out that my vehicle was not registered in my name so I sent to DVLA a form to request the V5C and at the same time I sent the form to declare it SORN, because I was not using anymore. And I cancelled the direct debit to pay the car tax.
Yesterday I received a mail from DVLA asking me to pay the tax for the last months (100 pounds) because the vehicle is not SORN.
What should I do? They clearly lost my SORN documents or for any reason the SORN was rejected and I was not informed.
Now if I try to declare my vehicle SORN online it still says that it's no registered in my name, even though I have a brand new V5C form with my name and current address print on it.
Thanks!

Have you called them to try to reason with them? I found them quite helpful on the phone when I had an issue.0

Who was the letter signed by?
I ask because if it's an automated fine, then talking to them may be a waste of time.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

- I don't think it's an automated fine. It's probably the amount that I didn't pay since I cancelled my direct debit until today.
- I called them this morning but they told me: you have to pay or appeal. Nothing else...They said the vehicle is not SORN at the moment so they probably lost my form or rejected but he didn't tell me anything more.0 -
The automated letters are signed by fake name, if the person were real they'd be dead by now or at least receiving death threats.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

On the letter it's written that I have 7 days to pay otherwise they will send an enforcement officer.0

Well since it didn't arrive, you are still liable. You need to get it sornd which you can do online if the car is registered to you.0

The weird thing is that I tried to do it yesterday but they still say that the car is not registered in my name, even though I recently receive the new V5C with my name...
I'll have to call them again. I hope nobody will come to know at my door asking money.0
