Stuck between 2 energy providers

Hi,

I switched electric and gas from Eon to British Gas back in October 2016. I am still being billed however by Eon for the gas portion of the bill, as well as both electric and gas by British Gas.

Eon, say they need a final meter reading from British Gas and that I should chase them, while British Gas are adamant it is Eons responsibility to contact them as this is now a delayed closure issue. Meanwhile I still paying 2 lots of gas bills and no further forward! By my calculations I'm due a significant refund from Eon but cant ge the matter resolved.

Any help appreciated.

Ten months on - you are more patient than most people. The gaining supplier is responsible for managing the switch which includes making sure that validated readings are passed to the losing supplier. Raise a written complaint against British Gas. If there is no action in 8 weeks then refer the complaint to The Energy Ombudsman.

Good morning RICHNUNN and welcome to the forums.

    Thank you Hengus :)

It's a shame you've decided to leave us RICHNUNN I'm sorry to see that.

This has been going a while though and I agree with Hengus, it's the gaining supplier that drives the switch, when you contact a new supplier to take over they will ask you for your meter reads.

These meter reads will [FONT=&quot]go through a third party who checks they're in line with past usage for the property.

The readings are then sent to your old supplier in this case us (E.ON) and we'll close your account to the same reads your new account has started from.

As Hengus says, you do need to contact the new supplier to get the final meter reads to us.

    Hope this explains.

    Thank you

    Helena
