Previous owners credit record

Hi all, I have been in my house just about 3 years.the previous owners left the country and initially had bailiffs and credit card bills and all sorts.i initially put them back in post saying gone away but after about 12 months just threw them out.

I have now started to get post again. I accidentally opened one today which was a new credit card. I have heard from neighbours they are back living locally. If I do a credit check will it tell me if other people are still registered here for banks. And if so what should I do. I don't want it to affect me in any way and my credit history but if it doesn't then I won't worry but I don't want to think they are still using this address somehow
