I heard a fella talking on the radio yesterday about Garageband. He said he used it on his phone but you can use it on your computer. He'd started writing his own songs & music, playing all different instruments, which he couldn't before. Now he's started his own Youtube channel.
Does anyone know exactly what it is; how it works, and is it any good. I have googled but hoped someone may have personal experience.
Thanks.

I don't own one, but wasn't this a default app on Macs?
Edit: Just to point out that this is in effect a sampling tool, but seemed to be quite powerful from what I could gather. A google search for 'garageband for windows' seems to have a lot of links to legal options to replicate it on an MS platform.0 -
Hi
It is an Apple thing, I have it on my iMac.
Is it any good? Well it's better at music than me.
So depending on your abilities the end result will vary. Mine are rubbish. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

On a scale of 1 to 10, i'd say my abilities would be 1,
It was just listening to this guy on the radio, i thought it may be a new hobby.
I'm not expecting to be able to write a No1 in the charts. If i ever tried going
on the karaoke the room would empty.0 -
Garage band is just what the name suggests. It's a collection of virtual instruments that you can play on your own phone/iPad/Mac. You can record multiple tracks, etc.
The sound quality is excellent. It comes free on many Apple devices.0 -

Similar principle to Garageband is what's called Music Tracking.
Here's an example:

And there's a Getting Started guide here:

GarageBand is great . I find it a bit overwhelming at times , with graph displays etc. You can plug your own guitar / bass guitar / mic and record on more or less as many tracks as you want .
Great fun . Mac only afaik0 -

One of the best apps on an iPhone, pity the updates to it are about 1GB though.0
