No, there's no need to ask; a TC licence isn't required for radio listening. Yet0

Assuming you mean TV Licence?
However I was thinking about TV rather than radio, I know the OP is talking about radio, but I think registering for TV is relevant.

Im assuming you went through the BBC website to listen to the station which is the iplayer radio. As far as I know all iplayer apps now require to register because of the future requirement to watch iplayer tv app with a tv license
Just go to this site and stream radio

Good tip from john22. Another option is to install an app, e.g. I use Audials (on Windows 10), but there's also TuneIn, App Radio and others. And then you can add/discover other favourite stations from across the world.0

I went ahead and registered for the BBC radio player with real name and address. It'll be interesting to see if any TV licence correspondence follows..0

Why would anyone give fake details? If your traffic isn't routed through a VPN then they can trace you to your address and they could argue that you obtained the service via fraud. It's a huge risk for something that is free.
If you are routing it through a VPN then what exactly are you scared of?0 -
Was just signing off when I saw this thread.
Felt exactly the same. No tv here, so no need for tv licence, although reiteration query came the other day.
DO use catch-up for radio, a lot. National treasure dear David Attenborough may be, but I, too, have no intention of supplying unnecessary detail.
Their 'you may also like' is intrusive, annoying.
Just click on 'BBC' above the Sign In box. Nothing else needs doing.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

& - very much my situation. On my tablet I listen via an app, but didn't realise you could just click on the 'BBC', so I'll try that.
Incidentally I've now had a couple of letters from Capita with an open window on the front of the envelope saying something like 'Will you be in on the nth of month'. They don't visit on said day, so it looks like pure intimidation and attempting to embarass you, which of course doesn't work if you haven't got or watch television..0
