Sorry if this is a bit long but Iv tried to include everything that happened. I ordered a DS lite for £79.99 from gamechimp.co.uk last month on what was a very professional looking website, and paid through paypal. After lots of emails with few replies I have drawn the conclusion that I have been scammed and now even the website has disappeared:eek: . I also got an email from paypal about strange activities on my account, which I think may be connected. The following events might help you spot any similar scams in the future.
I have included all the email addresses they have used and even a telephone number (which is never answered).
The original order was placed on 15th September 2007. I received the following email:
EDITED OUT TOO LONG:
So thats the story so far. I shall post again with the outcome at paypals claims department. Would like to hear any comments or advice.
Thanks
Luw

I doubt it will help but it's there anyway. Smile, you only get one life, LIVE IT.0 -
Do not use the link as it is not to paypal but a phishing site. Paypal do not send e-mails to "Dear Paypal customer". Wait 72 hours for the investigation, that gives them 72 hours to clean you out. Log into your paypal account as normal NOT THROUGH THAT LINK and change your password / card details NOW !!0

well i hope yo get your money back,i bet you couldnt believe it,scamming !!!!!!s!!appreciate what you have got x0

I second that - phishing email. If you DID click the link in the email and "signed in", go direct to https://www.paypal.com sign in as normal and change your details before the email scammer gets there first.
The email from PayPal is completely unrelated to your situation, so unfortunately, you could be being scammed twice over...0 -

No its ok, I just ignored the email and signed in normally. I figured it was dodgy. When I put my pointer over the link a different address showed up in the bottom of my screen.
Thanks though.

did anyone actually read that first post, talk about self indulgent0

what made you use them in the first place, the fact they were strangely cheaper than anywhere else ?0

If your Paypal payment was funded by credit card, I believe you can get your money back from them.illegitimi non carborundum0

It takes a fair amount of balls to accept you've been scammed and to bother to post a warning in a public forum that may leave yourself open to a little scorn.Wins so far this year: It's been a quiet year so far0 -
Thankyou for posting the warning, its so easy to be scammed.I hope you manage to get things sorted.Good luck.0
