Gig ticket refund deadline

Hi i was at a concert on 20 July when the venue announced the headliners were not there. They rescheduled for the following monday 24th July but would refund face value ticket price to those that wanted one, but with a deadline of 5pm Mon 24th. i missed the deadline and am being told no refund can be issued. my question is CAN they inforce their deadline, the ticket has a barcode that their records should show i didn't attend the Mon rescheduled show. Any advice would be welcome.

I am going to guess that the response for the deadline will be that they would be selling returns on the night so by not cancelling before this time they did not have the opportunity to resell
