Need advice..

What's the best option for me??

I have a MacBook Pro late 2012 500GB (Disc Drive Model) (Had it for 4 years)

I use it for FM 17 (FM 18 from October/November) Sim City 4,Cities in Motion, iTunes Web browsing & watching videos...

I wanted to upgrade to a 1/2TB SSD (Got quote £300 for SSD & £75 transfer data).

I want to make It faster (Sometimes slow when running FM 17 or iTunes etc) & have room for photos music videos etc..

It only started being slow recently when added more music etc

What the best/cheapest way to make it faster, Any ideas...

An SSD will speed it up a lot. I fairly recently upgraded an iMac of the same vintage to an SSD and the difference was really substantial.

Well a 1TB SSD seem to cost £250 or more so if they are going to do it for you I would have though it was quite cheap.

I did my iMac myself but it was only 250 GB. From memory it cost about £75. I also bought an external housing for the HD I removed (about a tenner) as that made it easy to clone the HD to the SSD. Takes a while so I imagine that would cost c. £75 if you are paying somebody to do if for you.

So that's a good price then?? Is it best for them to transfer the data or can I do it. Don't wanna muck anything up.

How much faster would my MacBook Pro be/run??

Or should I upgrade to a 1-2TB HDD (Will that make it faster)

Or can I have for example 120GB SSD+ 4TB HHD on my macbook

An SSD is a lot faster, but hard to quantify.

Bigger HD - Only if you want / need that much more space. Just using a bigger HD will gain little if any speed. Quite a bit cheaper though!

Data - Two choices, either you "clone" the drive so your MacBook will be exactly as it is now but with a faster / larger disk. Fairly easy if you are reasonably adept. There are many guides online.

    or

You install everything from fresh on the new drive, both OS and software plus all the updates then copy your data across. This is the best option and may help to give you a slightly faster / cleaner computer but is far more work.

So your saying a bigger HDD won't make it faster??

    SSD bit expensive...

All I want is a cleaner MacBook which runs soonthly (Not sluggish) & has 1TB storage or more Which can Run Football Manager perfectly which will cost less than £150-£200
