Admiral taking extra money from bank

I got an e-mail the other day saying Admiral were going to take an extra sum of money out of my bank due to estimating I will go over my mileage declared (I have one of them black boxes).
I didn't sign direct debit etc, just paid in one go entering my card details online, so unsure as to why they still have my card details, and if it's legally okay for them to still have them and take money out of my bank without my permission?
I've explained to them I won't go over the limit as I had a lot of driving to do when I first bought the car, but now rarely use it, but they're intent in taking the money out.
My main concern isn't so much the money, it's them still having my card details and taking money out at will based on an estimation, is this legal?

You need to read the terms and conditions of the policy you took out, nobody here can read those so if it states that is what they will do in there then that's what you agreed to when you signed up.0 -
They retain your card details so that they can auto-renew you at the policy end date. Somewhere in the small print you'll have accepted a CPA on your debit card.
Aviva do the same, and doubtless others too.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I would write to them saying you will NOT exceed the mileage declared and therefore do not give them permission to take the money.
I would also contact your bank and say you have not given permission for this money to be taken.
Surely the T&Cs mean they can only charge more once you have actually gone over that mileage.
You need to go through the T&Cs carefully and see what they have actually said.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Found this on their websiteMyth 1: Admiral will use the data to fine people who have underestimated their mileage
We do not use the Telematics data to fine drivers who wrongly estimate their mileage; we contact our customers prior to them going over their stated mileage so we can amend it; there is an admin charge of £19.50 for policy amendments. If you think you've covered fewer miles than you've been charged for, simply contact us and we'll reimburse the difference according to the pricing structure at the time.0
