Boiler Cover

When we moved in to our new home I took out British Gas boiler and radiator protection insurance. We had the initial first service and boiler safety check which was all signed off as ok by the engineer and the policy went ahead.
Around a month after the cover was taken out our boiler started to lose pressure dropping to the zero mark I called British gas out the engineer re pressurised the system for us and said to keep an eye on the pressure and top up if required. I have been doing this for a few months so called them out as its losing pressure on a regular basis now.
I asked the engineer why its happening he seemed to think we had a small leak in the system somewhere possibly under the floor he wasn't sure said it would be very tricky to trace it but it would not be covered on our policy that we have been paying for months as it is a pre existing fault?
I don't understand how they can say this as the British gas engineer checked the system off as OK on the first inspection and service and authorised the policy to be taken out?

The engineer wouldn't be an expert on insurance.
So contact the claims department and discuss this with them, point out what you have said here about the first service! (All assuming you are covered against leaks in the system)0
