invest student loan

Options
My son is eligible for a maintenance loan during his placement years but should be able to live off his salary. Should he add this loan to his existing debt (over £60k) and invest it, possibly in a personal pension? Are there regulations that prevent this?

I don't think there are any regulations that prevent investing the money. The money can be used for whatever you want.

The question of should he add it to the existing finance is one that only you/he can decide. Have a play with the student loans calculator to see what difference it would make for future repayments.
You should pay attention to the needs of the moment - otherwise there is no future. But to ignore the future is foolish - living solely for the moment leaves nothing for when the next moment arrives.
