    canal trust.

Dont forget to look at the working hours as you said you wanted to enjoy your free time, you might be hard pushed to find a job with as much useful free time as a postie (sorry based this assumption on 1 postie i met who finished at 2 everyday & pooted around shabby chicing furniture all afternoon to his hearts content) ooh! maybe thats a thought? turn a hobby into a business after work?

actually i think id quite like to be a postie, is it hard to get into? are you best off waiting for christmas temps & go from there?
  • Oh yes, I've been meaning to bookmark the canal trust.

I work with many who finish at 2, only managed that twice! Its a 4pm finish on a good day, just in time to battle crazy traffic.

It took me years of sporadically applying to get a job with Royal Mail, I'm not sure theres an sense in their application process.
I applied at the same time for two different postie jobs, got an interview for one of them, and got told unsuccessful...3 weeks later they rang and offered me the job!

Depends where you are. Here in the North west you can get drivers for around 9.00 an hour, Hull more like 8.50, south east 12.00-14.00 per hour. You would have to take the carp jobs at first with no experience. My lads take home over 40k a year, but they can be away from home a fair bit.

if you like the idea of driving, how about moving over to parcelforce or dhl?

(Another vote for traffic warden, that's another job on my list too, haha)
