PDSA new rules

Just received letter from the PDSA saying free treatment is being restricted to one pet from October. I have three registered with them at present. They refer to a reduced cost charitable scheme for the other pets registered but I cant see anything relating to this on their website. Does anybody know anything about this scheme please?

Have you checked out the link at the bottom of this page?

    https://www.pdsa.org.uk/vet-services/our-services

Might be better to give them a ring. Reduced cost is still likely to be cheaper than an ordinary vet though.

"For further information please call our client services team on 08081645055 or via our online contact form. Alternatively, please speak to your local PDSA Pet Hospital."
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Interesting - they're saying they had the choice to cut provision or use their reserves to do it.

Strangely, they've opted to keep their reserves intact. £68 million, plus £2.3 million in property, and £63 million in investments for 2015.

I presume making such important decisions is how their CEO earns a £150k salary each year.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Hi, I've just taken in two dogs that have always lived together and one of them had health problems. I registered them with the PDSA the day after the new rules came in. As I always try to pay in full for all my pets treatment then I propbaly won't feel it.
To answer your question. You're second pet gets treated at the reduced cost of using the PDSA instead of a private vet (after six months if they were registered before 31/07).
Examples of treatment of my neglected boy.
Consultation, antibiotic and wash came to £32
Consultation and second antibiotics - £28
Operation to clean infection, dental work and third antibiotics £265
He needs Neutering which will cost £86 but he can't have it done until four weeks after his last op.
You could choose to donate anything towards the cost of your first pet, but would have to pay in full for your second+ pet.
    hth. xx

If they have lifelong health problems then they will still receive free care for life.

    FAQ
    Q. Are there any restrictions to PDSA veterinary services?
    A. Yes. Eligible owners can register one pet for our free veterinary services, any additional pets can be registered for our reduced cost service. There is no limit to the number of pets eligible owners can register for our reduced cost service.

PDSA does not feel that charitable funds should be used to support breeding so certain restrictions may apply.

Not really related to this thread but depending on what breed your dog is the may be additional help you can get with neutering your boy. Dogs Trust often run neutering campaigns where they will issue vouchers free to neuter any bullbreed or bullbreed cross. They have vets all over the country that accept the vouchers. The dog doesn't have to be adopted from them to qualify.

    Thank you,
I've already looked into this, but my dogs don't qualify.
