Joint mortgage???

My boyfriend of 4 years and myself currently live in London (where he is from) but we have decided to move to Northern Ireland (where I am from) next year and hopefully buy a house. I have always wanted to have my own house and have been saving for years whereas it has never really been something he thought about.
I currently have enough for a deposit but he has absolutely no savings and no money to put up front, for this reason I am reluctant to get a mortgage together in case something goes wrong between us down the line and I am left with nothing.
Am I being irrational or should I buy the house in my name only. Any advise would be greatly welcomed.

You can put in clauses to protect yourself if need be. I personally dont see anything wrong with that....0

Things to think about - you don't have to answer here -
Have you discussed it with him? Has he changed his spending habits and started saving?
Is he contributing towards the rent now? Would his share of the mortgage be about the same?
If you take on the ownership together, you can chose to be 'tenants in common' where you own different percentages of the house or you can sign an agreement so that you get your deposit lump sum back and then share any rise in the value of the house.
Before you buy together, make sure you sort out exactly how you will deal with the house if you break up.
If you buy the house in your name and he lives with you and contributes towards the mortgage, he may gain a beneficial right in the property (although he'd have to go to court to claim this).
If he lives in your house, he will be in a vulnerable position because he won't have any rights - you will be able to make him leave immediately if your relationship breaks down.0 -
He's going to uproot his entire life to move to an area he doesn't know. Why not try renting together in Northern Ireland for a year before taking the plunge and buying somewhere?0
