Complaint about missing default: Barclaycard

Does anyone have an opinion about whether I should oblige Barclaycard to add the Default? They have offered me the option of doing so.0

If they apply the default on the date of the initial agreement, July 2013, then the entire account should drop off your credit file in July 2019. That's probably your best option if they agree to it.
I'm not sure why you think it should be Jan 2014 but I may have missed something.0 -
Hi mattymoo2014
Have Barclaycard said when they would register the default? The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) states a default should normally be registered when there are between 3 to 6 months arrears. Whatever that date is, the debt will be removed 6 years later. If you leave it as it is the debt will be removed 6 years after the date of the last payment or the date the account was settled.
Whilst the default might be considered more damaging to a mortgage application, by the default being registered the debt will drop off sooner. That’s because the default should be added before the account can be shown as settled. I think it’s worth taking advice from your mortgage broker if your main concern is applying for a mortgage. Good luck with it all.

Susie @ natdebtline – Barclaycard say the Default should be there from January 2014 –!at least, that's what their letter said but they did not apply it.
I want to ask another question. On the credit file there is an 'Account updated to' section and the date is December 2015 –!why would it be so late? Can I get this adjusted to the point of the Full & Final settlement, as per the other lenders?0 -
Well, I spoke with Barclaycard today and asked for the Default to go on. Despite not knowing what effect that will have at least the debt will drop off sooner. We'll see if Barclaycard do it correctly now...0
