Quick question...

I'm looking to fit new carpets to 2 bedrooms and a through lounge.
I've found very cheap remnants that's I'm looking to buy.

The remnants are 6m x 4m. Which will fit the bedrooms, but the through lounge is 7.7m long.
But the bedroom fitting will leave a 2m strip wide enough to "plug the gap" in the lounge.

My question is, if I bought extra grippers, would fitting the extra strip to the end of the lounge cause any issues other than looking a bit odd?

If you're not fitting it yourself a professional carpet fitter will be able to join the carpet.

It depends where the join is and how well the joint is done. You have the potential to trip over the join if not done properly or the if the carpet is poor quality. Also the carpet will likely wear more at the join. If you have pets they will almost certainly try to 'dig' in the joint if there are any uneven patches. My parents had a join in one of their carpets and it was done well and they never had a problem. I lived in a rented flat where it was done badly and had problems with it.

... also, you can't turn the two remnants at 90° to each other, or the pile will be different...

Don't link it with carpet grippers (if that is what you are considering), get a professional in to do the join, I think they glue it - and yes they will warn you about the pile direction. If done properly its rarely an issue.
