Boo at no Boots points as paid with Boots Advantage card

Shopped at Boots online this evening. I didn't realise but if you use your Boots Advantage card to pay for your shopping, you don't get any points on your purchase. This is a shame as I spent £65 and would have collected £7.80 in points but hey ho, I've saved myself £65 in cold hard cash that I can now spend/save elsewhere and I have a nice gift that hopefully will bring a smile to the face of the recipient.

Bit cheeky of Boots however, I've worked hard/spent a few quid collecting these points but now my Advantage card balance is less than a tenner, it will be a couple of free lunches and then more than likely avoiding Boots for my shopping. I've noticed on a few things that they are more expensive so really there is no advantage :rotfl:(sorry) in shopping there!

I do not think it fair to expect to get points when you redeem points, afterall it is a freebie to begin with.

Boots have always been more expensive, have you only just noticed this?!

I agree with Poppy, it would be illogical to get points on a redemption. You'd be using points only for them to give them back.

Bit like flying club miles, if you pay for a flight using miles you dont accrue any on that flight, makes sense to me.

On prices ,I noticed Asda had some photo frames for around £2 to £4, I noticed similar frames in Boots (they looked the same to me) for £13 to £17

If you use Tesco points to buy goods you don't get points on the purchase. Seems logical.

You've never been able to accrue points in the same transaction as you've spent them...

They did get the item free! You can only use points to cover the full value of the transaction

Using points to pay for something doesn't mean it's "free". They used the points to pay for the item.

The points are collected by making purchases at Boots. Boots include the cost of these points for every item you buy. So you are effectively buying points every time you make a purchase in boots to use at a later date.

If you get into the mindset of thinking using the points means you get free stuff then you are more likely to use Boots for more purchases; even when they are not the cheapest place to buy the item.

But if you still think the items are "free" then you should buy some love2shop vouchers they let you get "free" stuff in loads of shops. There is also no limit to the amount you can buy to get "free" stuff ;)
  • superdrug give you points even if you redeem points on a purchase. but i've never had enough points to cover the whole transaction so that's probably why.
