Would anyone know if this tribunal ruling follows through with the charges needing to be reasonable for other "giving consent" situations??
I am interested in relation to pet occupation and have been quoted £150 to obtain...
The law says that all admin charges made by a freeholder for anything (including consent to keep a pet) must be reasonable. i.e. They must reflect the amount of work and costs caused to the freeholder.
In simple terms, if giving consent involves...- reading an application letter from a leaseholder
- typing the details into a record keeping system
- writing a letter back to a leaseholder confirming consent
... the Tribunal said that a reasonable fee is £40.
If giving consent for a pet involves more work (for the sake of an example, say the freeholder has to carry out a detailed risk assessment to see if keeping a pet is safe), it's reasonable for the fee to be higher.0 -
Many thanks eddddy....I will bear that in mind when submitting the form for consent....my initial glancing over it suggests there will be no inspection and a decision will be made on the information I supply.
