Blue Badge without DLA application

I got my Blue Badge when I was on the low rate of mobility. The practise Nurse signed the Blue Badge form for me, stating that I had great difficulty in walking.

My local authority issued the badge without a problem. It was after this, and after talking to the Practise Nurse that I asked for a review and got the DLA rate increased.

I think each local authority interprets the rules differently and that is the problem. The same goes for Disabled Bus Passes.

There a lot of older generation who will not entertain hand-outs and it is very difficult to persuade them otherwise. You have to respect thier views even though you may be champing at the bit to get them everything that is rightfully theirs.

Friend has already got their blue badge before applying for dla.

This dla is subject to reconsideration at present.

I suspect its different rules for different councils.

if you are over 65 you cannot get dla anyway- it would be attendance allowance which has not got a mobility component.
therefore, i am sure your council must be able to accept other evidence.
(or older people would never get a badge)

I would apply as redburn suggested and then speak to someone higher up the chain (or appeal) if that didn't work. and if all that fails its time to go to your
friendly local politician.
