Virgin & BT at the same time?

Hi guys,
Once I have given my 30 days notice to cancel my BT TV, broadband and phone line how long do I have to wait to install/switch to Virgin Media? My BT service will end on 25th Aug.

Thank you.
I no longer work for Natwest, I left in 2012. But i can't change my name..

Thanks for that, i'm bit of an amateur and wanted to check there would be no issue with having a slight overlap of the two providers.

Better get on with it if you want the phone number transferred.

And if u don't want to be without a service and can afford overlap get going incase there are problems.

Start at least 2 weeks before.

I'm not worried about my phone no, we dont even have a phone plugged in. We just have the line cuz you need to have one.

VM runs on a completely separate network and cabling, so there is no problem with any overlap-except paying for it.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Obviously if VM cannot provide service before or on the 25th Aug ( I don't know what a typical lead time to get VM is ).then you will be without service until they can, TBH as you are not bothered about the number allocated to the line, you could have waited until the VM service was in and working before cancelling BT.
You may not be aware but as you are ceasing from BT completely you will probably have a broadband cease charge added to your final bill.
It sounds like you are not worried about landline telephony, so you could order broadband only from VM , although it's not much cheaper than line and broadband, and if you are getting a bundle of services from VM could cost more, but if you haven't already, it may be worth considering
