There's a similar story on FB whereby someone received a red/white card supposedly from The Post Office, except it didn't have the PO logo on it. If you ring the telephone number on the card apparently you will be charged £45!

Modern myth , there's no call rate on a normal number ( the picture shows 0208 XXX xxxx ) that costs more than standard rate . Even the premium rate 090 number cannot achieve that unless you are on the line for 10-15 minutes at least.

It is worth looking at this, apparently bailiffs are now using these tactics to get you to verify who you are. It is a card that looks very much like the Royal Mail one. The person that posted this is an ex post office employee.

If there's a sorting office address, then it's a genuine PO failed delivery. If there's just a number (no courier name?), then yes it's probably a premium rate scam.

If the card shows a geographic number, when you call you might get a recorded message saying the number has changed and for you to instead call 090 etc. :)

Perhaps you could scan it in and post here?

Could of course be a new batch of lipstick for Robert Smith.

Ace1 Couriers Ltd (the name on the second card) looks a little strange at Companies House.

But, a quick google does indeed link it with a well known bailiff organisation.

    How sneaky!

I am happy to say that in this instance it turned out to be an honest mistake. The postman made another attempt to deliver the parcel by leaving the parcel by her door, and my friend saw him, called him back to ask him to take it away as she knew nobody of this name.

A little detective work by the postman, my friend and her neighbour identified the intended recipient as a newcomer to the street - something he'd ordered on the telephone and the retailer had misheard the house number.

Well, given the responses earlier in this thread, a little caution goes a long way. I am of very advanced years - never been scammed, hacked, conned or otherwise done out of money or identity so far.
Obviously it can pay to be suspicious. From reading these forums others might benefit from being so.
