Do Cordless Landlines use A lot of energy?

Looking at switching to a cordless landline, and it will have a base which I assume plugs into the socket as well as having the phone line to go into the BT socket. Just wondering if these cordless hone phones draw a lot of energy? Any one care to give me a rough idea.. As I don't have and want a smart meter. So what's the guess per day/month of cost to be plugged in? Ty

Yeah not a lot is the answer. Though you will need to change the rechagable batteries every couple of years unless to want to get cut off mid call!

Nothing special needed though, poundland ones are fine.

My BT 8600 cordless base-station, with fully-charged phone docked is drawing about 2.5W at present. That's about £3 per year for me, given that I can't be bothered with switching tariffs to get the best deal. That's about £4 off my gross salary. It's not a lot, but all the little power draws in my house add up.

Almost every electrical device eventually makes only heat, so the relative cost of running it, depends roughly on how much heat it is making.

I have 5 cordless phones - all in use. Some are 4 years old & some over 10 years old & I still have the original batteries. They manage a 59 minute call with no problems. So not all cordless phones have battery problems.

I can recall having reliability problems with cordless phones in the past but our present Panasonic ones have been totally reliable for many years now .... we just take them for granted.
