BA Meal Cut Backs

Can anyone advise what meals we are likely to get on a BA flight to the USA departing 9.20am, arriving 2.00pm. Economy
I was told that we would get a decent breakfast and a cut back lunch before landing.
Is this the case, 9 hour flight, might need to supplement as I get hungry towards the end of the flight and then who knows how long we will have to wait to clear customs (Fort Lauderdale) and get our car.

Catering hasn't really changed that much on flights of that length.

Shorter flights (JFK, BOS, (less than 8.5hrs) they ditched the "second meal" (which was normally a sandwich) and replaced it with a basket pass of an "ambient snack" (think mini kit-Kat, muffin, etc.).

I believe they also ditched the pretzels with your first drink and cheese and biscuits from your meal tray as part of cost cutting.

Some of the cut backs have been re-instated.
But take a few snacks with you just in case.
There are a few fast food drive in places near the airport if you want to eat if you have a bit of a drive.

Driving to Fort Myers. Where is there to stop near the airport as I understood it takes you right onto the free-way and not much to stop for.

Is that the I-75? Most of the Interstates that I have driven along have signs approx a mile from each junction showing gas, lodgings and food available if you leave at that junction, usually right on the exit slip or very close to it.

I've taken a couple of 9 and 11 hour flights with BA to the US. Mid morning and early afternoon departures. The first meal was a 3-course lunch and then a sandwich and scone about an hour and half before landing.

I found the food in economy actually quite nice. Once I travelled World Traveller plus and I thought the food was excellent.
  • Came back from St Lucia earlier this year (Feb) and the food was inedible

One thing you will never ever be short of in the US is food options.
