Multiple Travel Insurance Policies

I have an annual travel insurance policy with Amex which covers the whole family of 5, with no pre-existing medical conditions covered. Since the policy was taken out though my youngest has been diagnosed with a nut allergy, which of course won't be covered. Rather than try and renegotiate the existing policy I have opted to take out a new single-trip policy via Allclear covering just me and my youngest and including cover for the nut allergy, all for just £40. Basically then for any event relating to her nut allergy we would claim on the Allclear policy (covering only two of us), and for anything unrelated we would revert back to the Amex one.
My understanding is that as long as I don't try to claim on both policies for the same event then there should be no problem with this. Just wondering if anyone knows of any hidden pitfalls with this while I'm still in the cooling off period?
