I think it is time MSE you done a view on this as they are such a rip off. I am with british gas and they are now charging for a
HomeCare Two - Boiler, controls and central heating cover including an annual serviceRenewal price is £294.02. Your previous price was £286.83.

So from currently £23.90 a month to £24.50. Be it a small increase is this a good deal. Please can this site do a comparrison on the best prices but with the best services to their customers if a boiler needs repairing etc.
I usually call them out maybe once a year or two years and its usually where the boiler just stops igniting and staying on. Seems to be the same each time. This takes them a small amount of time to do plus parts sometimes also I have a Service yearly. Is this price good value.

I have looked through the forums which are not the easiest to find anything but all I could find was how bad Scottish Power are at their repairs. So I won't be going to them.

Please anyone wishing to help and start this rolling feel free to do so.

I will start this off by saying British Gas 10/10 for service. They turn up on time and always let you know they are on their way.
As far as repairs go I have always had a high standard over the years once or twice been let down but they have always corrected the problem ASAP. So for Repairs and on time 9/10
Cost of this service I don't know if it is a good deal for this particular agreement so at present can give no score so its ?/10

Stick the money in the bank. I've never spent more than £100 a year on a boiler, most years it's £60 for a service. You are getting spanked!

My brother, now 77, has Homecare 400 and pays a lot for it, they say due to age of his boiler. He gets his usual annual boiler service and in all the years he’s had 400 he has never needed to call anyone out. I never mention it now when I visit as he gets upset at my moaning! This year, for the first time ever he queried it with British Gas as they were increasing the annual charge to £624.57. They told him all customers have the choice to pay an excess of £60 for any call-out (not including the boiler service) and if that suited him the annual charge would drop to £361.79. He went with it.

[FONT=&quot]Not sure if this might work for you Muad_Dib but it might be worth phoning them to see what the annual cost might be if you took the option to pay the excess.

Thanks for the response and will certainly check the https://www.uswitch.com/ for a better charge. Already had a look and Homecare 2 is half if I pay £60 per call out option. But will check others too.

    Thanks all.
