Boiler replacement

Options
I've had a couple of quotes to remove an old Worcester 28si and replace with a Worcester 25i in the same location.
The guy that viewed the job said it was a straightforward swap, a days work. The other quote was an estimate via freeindex.
Both were £1,995, including magni filter and remote control.

My electrician who has just finished rewiring the house recons a complete heating system including rads (for my 3 bed semi) shouldn't be more than £1,700 and that the trade price for new boilers is around £500 or half of what joe public is charged. It that is true then £2k for a straight boiler swap seems a tad high no?

Your electrician needs to stick to electrical work. Boiler, flue, filter, remote controls stats, chemicals and consumables will be getting on for £1300. 2k ain't a bad price.

So how much trade discount would a gas engineer get exactly off of say a Worcester 25i, given the price to Joe Public is around £1k?
Any gas engineers care to comment?

Trade price doesn't seem to be much cheaper than what you can get it for online. Unless your British gas or a big company buying thousands of boilers your not picking a Worcester 25i erp boiler for £500, probably closer to £900.

hmmm, just get on the internet and find the boiler from one of the online trade sites, then you will know what the labour is costing.
