How to sync iPod with new laptop

I've just spent 40 minutes Googling for a solution to my problem, but I'm still no wiser - so can any kind soul here please help?

I have an iPod Classic 160GB which until recently synchronised with the iTunes library on my laptop. That laptop has been replaced by a new one, to which I copied the library. I now find that the iPod won't sync with the new laptop: the iPod reckons it is synchronising, but nothing comes up to say so at the top of iTunes, and when it says it's finished and I eject it, nothing on the iPod has changed.

How can I get the two of them to play together nicely? Both laptops are running Win10 and the last-but-one version of iTunes.

You might need to update to the latest version of iTunes OP but I'm assuming the library you've copied from your old laptop has worked and is displaying your media?

If not might be worth trying this: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201596

Thank you! New library is good. I'll try this suggestion a bit later on today when hopefully I'm a bit more sensible ...

Just now tried it, and alas - no luck.

I guess I wipe the iPod and start again ...

Your iPod wants to sync with only your old laptop. You've done the right thing by copying the library to the new laptop. Now you can safely plug the iPod in, and the the computer wipe it, and sync the 'new' library onto it. Bit of a faff, but only needs done once.

Just by way of an update, I did sort this out, but I tried so many different tricks I'm not sure now which one of them actually worked ...
