Faulty used car not sure of my consumer rights?

Options
I bought a 2nd hand car from a trader on 31st May and picked this up to take home after they conducted a MOT on the 1st June. I paid via bank transfer £3,700. I was told the car runs well no faults and prior owners were an old couple that hardly drove the car hence the £25,000 miles for 2008 reg. the salesman also mentioned the car only had 3 previous owners which i later found out was wrong & when i got log book there were 5!

Within 9 days of having the vehicle the car wouldn’t start the ignition switch needed replacing. I phoned the trader and they told that they would refund the monies once i got this repair done at a local mechanics (prices were agreed prior to this). I paid my local mechanic to do the repair. I later chased the trader numerous times for the refund which they already agreed to. only when i followed up with a letter stating my consumer rights was the money refunded (literally i was chasing this up for 3 weeks!).
on 12th July took the car again to my local mechanic as coolant was leaking (car was still under guarantee) but as they were not fore coming last time & i thought it was a minor repair so i decided to get this fixed myself with my funds. Mechanic said it was only the washer bottle. Once the washer bottle was fitted they noticed the coolant was bubbling and still leaking. They later confirmed the head gasket on car needs replacing! i was in shock, and asked them to quote for the works. They came back with £972 quote for the head gasket reskimming, timing belt, thermostat etc. I phoned the trader angrily and told them i demanded they pay me to get the works done at my local mechanic! they refused in all cases and said they will pick car up and repair themselves. The also mentioned the head gasket going is ''like cancer'' yeah really???!!:T

They carried out the repair because they kind of bullied me into getting it repaired at their mechanics. Once the car was ''repaired'' (head gasket was replaced according to them) i took the car away drove it 20 miles to work and then noticed temperature warning light was still appearing on dashboard and coolant was still bubbling. I again called the trader and told them to give me a full refund for the car as they were not willing to give me a refund under any circumstances!

I took the car back at another garage which they organised. It looks like coolant problem is resolved as the temperature warning light is not coming up on dashboard but the radiator is still not blowing hot air and now the left indicator is not working!

I just want a refund for my car now and i have sent a 1st class recorded letter stating my consumer rights and as they have more than 1 opportunity to repair my car i'm exercing my rights to get a full refund for the car??? I am willing to go down the small claims court route but do i actually have a case here???

Thank you
