Mortgage lender lost us the house, complaint/resolution

In my opinion, the vendor was foolish to remarket just because of a delay of 6-10 days (not sure why this figure is so imprecise). At the very least, they could have remarketed but agreed sale was back on once mortgage was confirmed as agreed.
Something doesn't sound right with your figures though. When did you start the process of applying for your mortgage? You say you were 11 weeks in. How soon after the offer was accepted did you request the full mortgage application? If it wasn't immediately, why was there a delay? It might have been the delay in initiating the mortgage application that annoyed your vendors. It rather gives the impression of cold feet.
As others have suggested, it's unlikely that the bank has any liability for your costs. I'm not sure I'd push this any more."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -
the mortgage offer was on the table,
but the solicitor went back with a question to confirm they were happy about something.
vagueness in dates is because I'm not at home at the moment, and cant remember if it was 6, or 10 days.
propert was re advertised 'to let' not for sale. unsure on vendors real reason to change/pull out.
but they way I see it is if the bank answered the question in the time scale they stated we would of bought that house. (they set the expectations).0 -

It's beginning to sound like the vendors motivation for not proceeding with the sale was something other than the delay. I'd be inclined to write a letter to the estate agent asking them if they need any further confirmation that you were a willing and able buyer. I'd want to know that this process was expensive for the vendor too."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

we got our initial application fee of £999 back.
but the fact it was the banks delay, 14 working days we were advised, this was passed to the vendor,
another 6-10 working days of delays until we got the answer we needed.
there was a few days then of the EA trying to persuade the vendor.
been offered £175 as compensations. but the lost sale cost us near £1000 in solicitor fee's.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
