Vodafone Default Affecting Credit Rating - Please Help!!!

I recently checked my credit report, as I am looking to get a mortgage, only to discover that I have a default with Vodafone. I then came to the realisation that this default is from a contract that I took out for an ex partner who hasn't paid it (yes, stupid thing to do).
I accept the fact that I have made a mistake and I am now willing to get this sorted out with Vodafone, however this hasn't proved as simple as I thought it would be and thus far I have been unable to simply call and come to an agreement to settle!
So far I have made over 30 calls to Vodafone, been passed from department to department, been given incorrect information, been given contact details for a debt recovery company who have no record of me at all, been advised I need to set up a PIN to speak to someone even though I had previously spoken to about 28 people regarding this who disclosed information regarding the account to me! I have now been told I need to go into a Vodafone store and speak to someone which I genuinely do not believe this is the case and feel I am being fobbed off by the call centres as they do not know how to deal with it - I am literally at the end of my tether and this is giving me grey hairs. I do not know what else to do to resolve this as I seem to keep going around in circles and not getting anywhere at all.
Can someone please advise if there is anyone who I can speak to about settling this? All I want is to resolve this and move on with my life!

Forget phoning, make a written complaint which then puts the ball in their court with the clock ticking. Bear in mind though that even if you settle in full, the default will remain on your file for 6 years regardless, though it will show as satisfied. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Same thing is happening with my girlfriend. Vodafone pass us onto the credit agencies, even though I explained that it's still down to Vodafone to sort it, the credit agencies send us back to Vodafone. Absolute pain in the backside0

Danielle,
I hope you have some luck in resolving your issue.
You have my sympathy, I am sick to death of dealing with Vodafone. Their customer service is appalling!
I am in the middle of making a complaint, I found a few postal; addresses online but wasn't sure which one to use, so spoke to an agent via live chat...I wish I hadn't bothered!0 -
