Google Vent!

Morning!
I was just wondering! Is there any possible way when on your mobile and searching Google. Is there a way of just seeing answers from the UK and not USA? I know you can type in the search bar 'UK' but this doesn't seem to stop them!

It just really annoys me because the majority of the time things come up that aren't even irrelevant to my search!

If you scroll across to the right (on the bar that has images, videos, news etc) you'll see the option "search tools" click on that then change any country to the uk and you should get better results.

Is your search engine google.co.uk or google.com?

Even on both it's been doing it. I have now changed the settings to what unholyangel suggested.


How do you 'quote' a reply? The drop down box on the left hand side of the 'thank you' doesn't let me do anything! Maybe it's my phone!

Assuming you're using the new white & blue layout (and assuming the buttons are in the same place they are when logged out - sorry i'm using the old layout so I can only see new layout when i'm not logged in!), it should be under the post - an orange speech bubble. If you want to quote more than one post, you click the button with the blue/turquoise double speech bubble on every post you want to quote.

Glad it's not just me. I have tried the new layout a few times and still only feel comfortable with the old green forum.

I use lots of forums for this and that, but the newer MSE design (I guess it's years old now) in the only one that grates on me. Just happy the old one still works.

The main thing we are missing out on is that the new forum displays the OP at the top of every page of the thread.

Yes it is the white/blue design. So I'm guessing I'm not actually going to be able to quote etc!

I'm using the forum on my iPhone if that makes any difference?

Definitely not just you. I think enough forum regulars said the new design was unusable for them so MSE (if memory serves) relented and added the old layout as an option.

IMO, the old one is more user friendly. But apparently forums are a dying breed - or at least that was part of the reason cited for IMDB getting rid of their forum.

Using my phone (again, I can only see the new layout when logged out so it may change when logged in), you click on the + icon to the right and the options should be: quote, multi-quote, report, share on facebook, share on twitter. With quote and multi-quote having the corresponding orange/turquoise speech bubbles I described in my previous post.

Yes, I have the drop down box to the right of my thank you box but it doesn't actually allow me to select anything. It's so annoying because all I can do is reply but if there are a number of replies on an actual thread I look a bit silly because I'm not actually quoting anyone.
