Problems with company who laid laminate flooring.

The flooring to the living room, one bedroom and the hallway in a small groundfloor flat I was about to move in to was laid in May by a company I found on checkatrade.com
The rooms were divided by wooden threshholds in the doorways and the the owner of the company said that he could go over the top of the threshers of the two rooms and it would look much nicer and be easier to clean, by raising the height of the floor in the doorways with two layers of the square pads of underlay.
It did indeed look very neat but as he was finishing I noticed some sponginess around one door. He said it was to be expected. I soon noticed a lot of creaking and more sponginess in various places in the hallway but thought it would settle down. However, it has just got worse and in barefeet it feels so uneven I nearly feel seasick and creaks a great deal which I find annoying.
I texted the owner and told him about the problem, and got a text back from his wife telling me that I was warned that the floor was uneven and that I would have to get the floor seen to and pay for more work done.
I was not warned that the floor was uneven in the hallway and my next door neighbour who has the same flat has no problems with her laminate flooing. If I had been warned I would have contacted the social housing association and it would not have stopped me from moving in being the hallway. The hallway is very narrow btw.
Can anyone advise me about the way forward please?
