Have I just won a holiday? Or am I just being taken for a ride?

Hi All

Just had a call from ClubLaCosta - I entered a draw through Get Me A Ticket, which must have been on an MSE thread - to say I'd won a week's holiday. Now, I know I should be excited but am just finding it hard not to be suspicious - what do they want out of me?

Would really appreciate your thoughts... here's the sitch:

Pro:
1. I did enter some comps on that site so not 'out of the blue'
2. When I was first called I was given a freephone no to claim on
3. I did directly ask what our obligations were if any and the reply was none - we pay £29 booking fee per person plus the obligatory flight tax straight to the airport
4. They acted open and honest (I know, I know, doesn't mean anything!) gave full names and times they were available if I wanted to call and cancel or ask more questions

The only potential 'con' is that we have to go to their office to confirm (near Lakeside, we get a £25 John Lewis voucher in return) - as am naturally suspicious of free things like this it does make me wonder...

Anyone had any contact with them? Anyone got any thoughts on how legit the offer is? Have I really won a holiday?!?

I got a call as well. I just put the free phone number into Google & found loads of stuff - lots from this site which tells you all about it.

Needless to say I didn't call.

Sounds like a scam, sorry! Get me a ticket are one of the shadiest ticket agencies on the web.

its a scam sorry, try putting Club La Costa etc into the search on here and theres a few threads about it. There are hidden charges, meetings etc to attend, in other words a timeshare!

Yep - thanks guys! Found a couple of the threads and have seen enough! I think we could have resisted the hard sell (my OH is an account manager so he's pretty good at countering the 'sales techniques') but TBH just not worth the hassle even for a free week somewhere.

Scam is still in operation today. I am a very new member of the forum and therefore unaware of this thread, until now. The mention of a booking fee plus their inability to send details via email warned me off and onto this site in order to warn others. I have entered only one foreign holiday competition, a villa in Turkey for a year, so it is likely to be a source of victims.
