Change of Address on Car Insurance

I recently moved and my car insurance is now also up for renewal, shopping around to see if I could get a better price left me confused as my quotes were £300 more than I had paid the previous year, even though I had gained another year of no claims.

Long story short, the same quotes with my old address bring me back down £300, so can I purchase insurance under my old address and then later change the address to my new one? (I'm aware there are admin fees in doing do but it wouldn't be near the £300 I would save)

If you lie about your address to get a cheaper premium then you leave yourself open to cancelled policy/claims rejected/fraud marker etc


And your idea of correcting address later is naïve - your premium will go up when you do notify them!

I was moreso curious about the second point, say I were to pay for the full year in advance can they feasibly charge me more for changing my address?
