Airbnb Nightmare - Advice please.

Good day friends.
So I am my brothers best man for his wedding in September and for his bachelor party I booked for 8 of us to go to Ibiza.
I booked through Airbnb, with a 'superhost' who was verified by them, weeks if not months in advance.
While at the airport, half an hour before were due to get on the plane, I got a text from this 'superhost' saying basically you cant come anymore, youll have to find somewhere else to stay.
After getting on the phone to airbnb who essentially told us we're on our own, we decided we couldnt just fly to Ibiza, landing at 1am, with nowhere to stay for the 3 days we were there, so we went home, effectively ruining my brothers bachelor party.
In losing the flights and the trains to the airport etc my brother and I are out 460 pounds = 600 dollars.
Airbnb have refunded us the money for the place and offered 100 dollars in compensation, leaving my brother and I out of pocket 500 dollars.
I have spoken to Airbnb and they have been less than useless, down right rude in fact, effectively they have unilaterally decided that their offer is reasonable and the fact my brother and I are down 500 dollars is absolutely fair. I wondered if anyone had any insight into how to get them to make a reasonable compensation offer that at least covers our costs.
Thanks in advance.

have you spoken to your travel insurance to see whether they would cover this?
Have you checked the contract you have to see whether they can do this or whether they have breached, if the latter do you have legal cover with any insurance policies?0 -
Spoke to insurance company. They say Im not covered.
Tbh I dont blame them. IMO this is 100% the fault of airbnb. Absolute joke of a company.0 -
When you use AirBnB you are contracting with the owner of the accommodation, he is the one that broke the contract and AirBnB don't pay your money to the owner until you are there. If you had booked directly you might still be fighting for anything. I don't think you are going to get very far with AirBnB itself, your claim is against the owner. did he give a genuine reason for cancelling the booking, asking AirBnb to withdraw his property from sale could be one way to get him to offer something but without knowing the reasons for the cancellation, it is difficult to know.0
